Color Inspiration #081

This week I am featuring a new photographer: Angela Hollingsworth! She is one of my closest friends and is super talented! Check her out HERE.

In her own words, here is what she's all about:

I am a commercial and conceptual photographer. I photograph mostly products, but I also enjoy shooting a variety of subjects. I love using Photoshop to express my ideas. I see Photoshop as a tool, not a crutch. One of my photography professors told me that in today’s world, if you have a vision in your head, you can make it on paper using Photoshop. Many people tell me I have a unique style to my work. Interestingly enough, I have never really noticed it myself; I guess my “style” is just something that comes naturally to me. I am really excited to see where I can go with this form of art. I am heading to LA to do an internship, and then I want to work for an advertising agency. But, no matter where life takes me, I will always be happy knowing that I’m doing what I love.

Color Inspiration #080

Today is the last Color Inspiration by Amanda Castleberry Photography! But she is in the contest until Saturday at 11:59pm, so make sure to vote for her by following the rules at the bottom of this post! Find her website HERE. In her own words, this is what Amanda is all about:

I love wedding and portrait photography. It's really that simple. My passion for wedding photography in particular started as a photographers assistant at a famous portrait studio in SLC, Utah. After working hard to develop important photography skills I was accepted into Brigham Young Universities competitive photography program and graduated with many awards and scholarships in 2010. During my time as a student I started my own photography company and since, have been able to travel all over the west coast photographing weddings! I love it. I love the special, timeless, moments I am able to be part of, the people I am able to meet, and the love I am able to feel on so many different levels from each couple and family. So let's get together, be creative, and have some fun!

Can A City Be Designed for Greater Popularity?

Chattanooga, Tennessee is trying to do just that. With the use of a new typeface called Chatype. The goal was to create an identity through a custom typeface that would be used for various visual elements throughout the city.

Pretty sweet idea, do yo think it would make a difference in the city?

Would you like it if your city was branded like this??

Check out this video which is the base of their ideas and how they decided to brand Chattanooga! It seems like a pretty amazing city!

New Skin: What Do You Think?

Notice anything different?? I just changed the face of my blog! It's completely different! Want a refresher? Here's what it used to look like:

The reason for the change is that I wanted my blog to look less like a fun, girly blog and have it look more like a professional, experimental, purely graphic design blog where one could come to learn more about graphic design and to be inspired by the same things that inspire me.

What do you think about the new blog design? Your comments are welcomed and encouraged!

Color Inspiration #073

Chantel is also in a contest on my site, so if you want her to win, 'Follow' my blog on the right or 'Like' my FB page at the bottom of the page and she will be entered to win!

Check her out HERE.

Again, in her own words, this is what Chantel Marie is all about:

I love pictures of reality and the 'in-between' moments.   I love shooting details that tell who a person is; the smallest details that tell so much about someone, somewhere, or something.  I want people to see images I take of them and think they, themselves, look amazing.  We critique ourselves so much it's amazing to photograph people and see the authentic things about them that they don't focus on, and then having that translate into a photograph that they love...yes, that's what I strive for:)  Beauty in reality, because there is so much of it.

Color Inspiration #067

I cannot express how excited I am for this movie. Who wants to go to the midnight movie with me?

This beautiful info graphic explains what's worse: bacon or carbs.

We are watching this movie tonight on Greg's parent's Clearplay. Friends, is it worth it?

Since it has THIS guy, pretty sure it will be worth it... hehe.

Enjoy those links (you should definitely check out the one just above this line) and enjoy today's Color Inspiration with a mug full of hot chocolate and mini marshmallows.

Words to Live By: #0460

Something that I can work on, this is my new motto. Anyone willing to join me??

Color Inspiration #066

Ever wonder what goes on in a designer's mind?

If a 5 year old girl "gets it" then everyone can "get it."

Today's Color Inspiration  "gets it" too, can you see "it?" It's hard to describe what "it" is, but it has "it!"

Is it Better?

I need your feedback!! Do you like this new layout or the old one??

With this new layout, I lose all of my buttons on the side and links to blogs that I love, but it has some benefits to it as well. But I need YOUR FEEDBACK!

Should I stick with the new or go back to the old?

Words to Live By: #1091

"Words to Live By" are experimentations. They create a creative outlet for me to try new things and new techniques without any boundaries. This is my second post using ink-blots and I'm especially happy with how this one turned out, what do you think?

Color Inspiration #065

This video made me really happy yesterday. And then again today.

This article sparked my interest about our personal online identity.

This artwork about Disney princesses blew my mind.

And today's Color Inspiration makes me overwhelmingly happy.
